Hi, my name is Josh. I am a student of media, technology, and culture. I studied film production at Piedmont Community College and motion picture theory and professional writing at Western Carolina University.
 
Below is a portfolio of my writing samples, as well as some short films I have produced.

Following AP Style, this press release informs the public of WCU's latest Literary Festival.

Short Film Script -- Carry Me to Titan

Written as a final project for Intro to Screenwriting, Carry Me to Titan is the story of a ne'er-do-well who finds he is the sole survivor of a biological disaster on a spaceship sent to terraform Saturn's moon Titan. He must overcome his own fears and misanthropy to complete the mission.

Sock Monkey Psycho -- 2009 


I shot and edited this film (with the help of my two bunk-mates) over the course of a few months of an Iraq deployment. It is about a soldier who begins to go mad with fear after one of his fellow soldiers receives a package containing a mysterious sock monkey. This lo-fi horror romp is rough around the edges, but it's fun to watch and more importantly, it was a lot of fun to make -- which helped us take our minds off the drudgery of the deployment.

Intertextuality and Star Wars -- 2011



This short educational film looks at the concept of intertextuality -- the shaping of one text's meaning by other texts -- and the effect Star Wars has made on media texts and pop culture since its release in 1977.
